Section 58 Calling a Meeting

 

A : Basic expressions

- meeting = conference(공식적이고 격식을 갖춘 회의) We'll have [hold] a meeting thid Friday.

- agenda → Let's discuss the agenda. → We need to revise the agenda.

- attend → Who should attend the conference? <attendance> attendee = participant → How many

attendee will there be?

- subject = topic

B : Key sentences

- What is the meeting about?

- What time is the meeting? = What time does the meeting start[finish]?

- Where will the meeting take place?

- What is the subject [topic] of today's meeting?

→ I could call a monthly sales<회의종류> meeting

→ We're having a Friday morning<시간> meeting.

→ We'll hold a product-launching<회의주제> meeting this Friday.

→ The meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 22<날짜> in the main hall.<장소>

C : Key Dialog

- We have a meeting next Monday. → When are we supposed to meet?

D : Office Talk

client. → Oh, no. We're going to go over the November sales figures. → I try to postpone the

appointment. Anyway, can you email me the agenda?

E : Further Study

- This afternoon's meeting has been postponed untill 3 p.m. tomorrow.

- The time of the meeting has been advanced from 5 p.m. to 2 p.m.

- The meeting has been called off because the executive director is going on a business trip.

- 회의시간을 앞당길때는 be advanced [moved up] from A to B (A에서 B로 앞 당기다)

- 시간을 늦추는 것은 put off postpone (연기하다)

- 회의를 취소할 때는 call off / cancel
