A : Basic expressions

- call in sick → John called in sick today. → John was out on sick leave.

- see a doctor → Why don't you see a doctor?

- take the rest of the day off → take a day off - absent without leave(AWOL 무단결근)

- be absent → He is absent from work today. = He didn't come to work today.

- look pale → You don't look good[well]

- fill in for someone → Can you fill in for me while I'm away?

B : Key sentences

- I caught a terrible cold. →What's going on?

- I feel nauseous. → What's the metter?

- I have a fever. → Is everything oaky?

- My head feels like it's going to explode.

- My body aches all over. → Are you doing all right? - I have a horrible headache [backache]

- I'd better take the rest of the day off. =have a half day, leave early, work a shot day, take off early

C : Key Dialog

- I have a high fever. I can't even get out of bed. → You'd better call in sick.

- I caught a horrible cold. I've got to see a doctor after work. → You'd better leave early.

- I'm afraid to say this, but I can't come to work today. → Are you doing all right?

- Mellisa called in sick today. → Then who's going to handle this job?

- Did John take the day off today? → No, he's absent without leave.

- You look pale. Are you okay? → Actually, I don't feel well.

- May I take the day off tomorrow? My body is aching all over. → Take care. I'll fill in for you tomorrow.

D : Office Talk

- Are you okay? → Well, I seem to have a cold. It's getting worse.

E : Further Study
