Section 9 Using an Email Account
A : Basic expressions
- send an email → send~by email.
- attach files → attached file attachment
- compress → compress a file → compressed file.
- receive an email → check an email.
- reply → ~reply to one's email or answer one's email.
- forward A to B → Can you forward the contract to me?
- be returned →bounce back, get rejected,
→ The email message bounced back because of a large attachment.
- mistype → typo, misspelling
- be filled with~ → My mailbox is filled with junk mail.
- empty → empty the mailbox.
- recover a deleted mail. → delete permanently.
- junk mail → spam mail, bulk mail
- set one's password
B : Key sentences
- Can you attach the files to an email message? → Sure. Let me have your email address, please.
C : Key Dialog
- I'm looking forward to your prompt response. → I'll check and reply to your email right away.
- I don't know why the email was returned. → My mailbox is full. I'll empty it.
- I received the contract by email. → Can you forward it to me?
- I have a hard time downloading a large attachment you sent. → I'll compress the file and resend it.
- I haven't received your email yet. → I'm sorry. I mistyped your email address.
- I want to recover a deleted mail. → If you deleted it permanently, it's impossible to recover it.
- I'm tired of deleting junk mail. → Try to use a spam filter.
D : Office Talk
- JP, can you check your email box? → Email I sent to you bounced back.
- Oh no, my mailbox is filled with a lot of junk mail. I'll delete it right away. Can you resend it?
