Section 29 Canceling & Confirming Appointments

 

 

A : Basic expressions

- be scheduled to → be supposed to = be expected to = be planned to

- confirm an appointment → I'd like to confirm our appointment.

- cancel an appointment = call off = break

- ask a reason → Can I ask the reason?

- xecuse → Don't make an excuse. = Don't make any excuse.

- consider the situation = take an the situation = understand one's situation

- accept one's apology ~ 사과를 받아들이다. apologize for ~대해 사과하다.

 

B : Key sentences

- I'm afraid that~ I need to cancel a meeting on Friday.

- I'm sorry, but I've got to call off an appointment

I must break

- I hope you understand.

- I hope you accept my apology.

- I hope you consider the situation. = I hope you consider my situation.

 

 

C : Key Dialog

- I'm afraid I can't make our 2:00 appointment. → You have to cancel again. I'm not even surprised.

- I'm afraid I won't be able to see you tomorrow. → Give me a good excuse.

- I'm so sorry that I have to cancel this meeting. → May I ask the reason?

- I hope you consider the situation. → That's fine. We can reschedule our appointment.
