A : Basic expressions

- be promoted to + 직급 ~ 으로 승진되다. = get promoted = be advanced = move up(the ladder)

= get ahead in one's career = promotion.

- be based on → It's based on your work contributions.

- promotion candidates 승진대상 후보들 → screen promotion candidates. 승진후보자들을 심사하다.

- performance evaluation →Performance evaluation are based upon assigned duties and responsibilities

- award a prize = reward → I got a reward vacation. = I got a vacation as a reward.

- have confidence in ~를 신임하다 신뢰하다. have full confidence in

- pass someone over ~ 간과하다. 못 본체하다. ~ 를 제외시키다. 탈락시키다.

B : Key sentences

- What are the criteria for promotions?

-→ Employees will be evaluated based on their [ ]

- Performance evaluations → leadership / productivity / accomplishment / the level of responsibility

- Work Contributions → the impact of their work / the extent their customer satisfaction 고객만족도 - behavior & attitude

- education - relevant experience

C : Key Dialog

- Can you specify standard promotion criteria? → Sure, mostly It's based on your work contributions.

- When are you going to screen promotion candidates? → I'm not sure. I haven't finished reviewing

the documents yet.

- I can't believe John is promoted to the sales manager. → He always acts as a troubleshooter.

performance, but your relationship with your boss is the most important factor in reality. Use every

opportunity to make your boss a key supporter of your promotion.
